Popular Devon rockers Muse will headline this summer's V Festival in Chelmsford, it has been confirmed.
The two-day event will take place on August 16 and 17 at Chelmsford's Hylands Park.
The Verve, the Kooks, Ian Brown, the Prodigy and Stereophonics are among the other leading acts scheduled to perform.
Other top acts on the bill include Lenny Kravitz, Maximo Park, the Charlatans and the Hoosiers.
Tickets for the festival, which is now in its 13th year, go on sale March 7 at 10am.
Muse, which consists of lead singer Matthew Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard, produces a unique blend of alternative rock, classical music, electronica, heavy metal and progressive rock.
The Teignmouth indie band, well known for their energetic live performances, have enjoyed a highly successful few years.
In August 2006, the group were crowned 'Best Live Band' at the Kerrang Awards and were also shortlisted for the 2006 Mercury Music Prize.
Their latest album, Black Holes and Revelations, went straight to number one in the UK chart when it was released in July 2006.
The band's success continued through 2007. In November, Muse took home two honours at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Munich, Germany - best UK and Ireland act and best headline act.
They also played the headline spot at Glastonbury and became the first band to perform at the new Wembley Stadium.
