Yonge Street
Starting from the lake, it would take you almost 2.4 million steps to reach the end of this road, but with so many great shops lining the street, you'd be sidetracked from the very first step. Yorkville

St. Lawrence Market
Named by Food and Wine Magazine as one of the top 25 markets in the world, the St. Lawrence Market is a concentrated slice of Toronto. The classic meal here is peameal bacon - Canadian bacon for those south of the border - piled high on a freshly baked bun, but don't miss the hundreds of other culinary specialties found here, from around the world.

Kensington Market
If it grows, it's likely for sale here. If someone makes it, this is the place to find it. Such is Kensington Market, a testament to Toronto's diversity. This pedestrian-friendly favourite of Torontonians is a shopper's dream. The streets are lined with bustling stores, large and small. You can buy everything from monkey-picked tea to bicycle parts.

PATH Underground
Weather got you down? Then head underground where Toronto's unique PATH system awaits. The PATH connects six major hotels, five subway stations and over 1,000 shops and services in a network of subterranean walkways. Over 100,000 people walk and shop here every day. With 371,600 square metres of retail space, it might be a while before you resurface.

Queen Street
Shoppers face a difficult decision at the corner of Yonge and Queen streets. Turn east or west? Queen West has cool shoes, used guitars and urban fashions. West Queen West is cutting edge, and Parkdale has an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. Heading east you’ll find décor stores around Sherbourne Street, antiques in Leslieville and plenty of patios in The Beaches.

A bit of everything
Toronto has numerous little pockets all over the city that make for exceptional shopping. Chinatown offers Chinese décor pieces and Manga comics. Corso Italia is famous for high fashion from Italy. Queen's Quay Terminal harbours boutiques selling everything from colourful kites to superior garlic presses. The Fashion District has several leather outlets in beautiful refurbished warehouses. Little India has traditional saris and scarves. Greektown offers home décor shops and the Big Carrot, one of Toronto's leading health food stores. Wander through The Annex to find used CD stores and bookstores at bargain prices.
